For me, I went with Stick to the Shadows because there will usually be a situation where a 4 damage and a Move 2, Invisible are useful and I dont think the Spring the Trap Loss is better than our other Loss abilities. Youll need to play it reasonably early in a scenario to make sure you have four opportunities to use it. So status effects like Stun that puts them out of action for a turn, or Immobilize that stops them from moving. This can mean that the Beast Tyrant falls a long way behind the rest of the group. Their names, miniatures, how they play, all cards etc. A decent multi-target ranged ability. We have plenty of low initiative cards to get out of harms way. Youll level quite slowly because the majority of the experience points are given on loss cards, or when an element is consumed when casting. There are plenty of abilities in the deck that deal damage to yourself as well as monsters. The level 1 summons are effective against low-level monsters but not so good against higher levels or elites. It allows you to heal yourself for 2 points anytime the monster you have marked with a Doom takes damage. Patch Fur. Given the situational bonuses on several of our abilities, the Pull 2 on Smoke Bomb is surprisingly useful. This is the ultimate debuff. Not only does it prevent that monster from healing, but it adds +1 to everyones hit against that monster for the entire time its poisoned. That 90 initiative would be useful though. And finally, take the add one Invisible card. The top ability of Smoke Bomb is just awesome and itll scale well with our other abilities as we level. And then start improving the deck. At early levels, Flamethrower and Potent Potables will get you another 4 points and a summon is another 2 points. As a great damage dealing class, your group will be relying on you to help pick off monsters. Altering the cards in the modifier deck is important, but less so than with other classes. However, classes retire and change, so Chimeric Formula may not be amazing forever. A Mindthief will have to keep moving if they Its more flexible and does more damage without needing to be boosted by Earth. But personally, shes my favorite class to play. Were going to be taking a lot of hits and will definitely need this heal. Youll cast forth summoned animals like a snake, alligator and a wolf. The Berserker has 10 health at level 1 and increases to 26 hit points at level 9. One idea for Flamethrower is to turn it into a buff card instead of a damage card by adding a Bless enhancement. All other classes are gradually unlocked throughout the game, as players complete their personal quests. Both cards are really good choices here. Wound will be useful on whatever monster it affects. Then youll help or hinder them with your melee abilities and mind control. At other times youll be returning to the city to sell wares or rest after wearying battles, dealing with random encounters that befall you along the way. However, stamina is a problem for Scoundrel with a hand size of 9 cards only and no way to get it back. Its a major blow if I cant get the trap triggered. Its a pretty cheap enhancement and adding Poison to the monster can give you and your party the boost you need to finish off a monster. No way! The Summoners health is pretty low. Playing as a Cragheart will make you feel powerful, after all you are a beast who can tank and have a high health score. When it comes to damage, the Woah! Nothing. While they are preoccupied with your decoy, they arent dealing any damage to you sealing their defeat. With the curse build, its less obvious to see the impact of adding more curse cards to the monster modifier deck until you experience it for yourself. That 93 initiative is actually really helpful if theres a round where we want to go last. With all the setting up that Smoke Bomb takes, the last thing you want to do is miss your next hit. Youll be charging towards the monsters with an angry expression on your face. So as the Nightshroud youll do pretty low damage on one turn, high damage on the next with the occasional instant vanquish thrown in! She uses psychic skills to buff herself and her allies, and to weaken monsters, and turn them against each other. The Cragheart is actually a character with decent ranged, melee and area of effect abilities, and some minor heals. Its not an urgent one as the 3 damage will serve you fine at lower levels, but it will help Venom Shiv keep pace with monsters as you level. The initiative is not ideal for me. For our single target damage build, its not great. This is a good one to grab early on. They quickly get used up. With our use of Losses being restricted, we want to beef up our best repeatable actions with enhancements. This top ability isnt a great fit for our build, but it does make for a good top action to forego! The Beat Tyrant has 8 heal abilities but you wont be using them to support your allies. Now, since the game offers different situations at different times, building an effective character is the key. Now instead of doing up to 14 unmodified damage when you line up the ability with Smoke Bomb, you can do 18! Now that is an expensive perk! Half of the cards contain a Move ability. Which means this ability will give us a bonus +2 Move to that summon to move it to where we want it rather than it doing its own thing. So while your damage to each individual monster is not particularly high, you can damage several at once. Because this is repeatable heal that well be keeping till retirement, its a good option for an enhancement. With those preliminaries out of the way, lets dive into the particulars of the games fantastical adventure. The top ability is solid and the Poison is a cool bonus to have. This is like giving your bear another standard action but with one key difference. Strengthen on Smoke Bomb will make sure that you always hit! Items. A Cragheart can attack several enemies at a go and hence boost the effect of the damage your team deals. So thats 12 points without really trying too hard. Restorative Mist. You cant be a versatile all things for all situations kind of player you just dont have the cards for it. But to be honest, that would just put them out of action for one turn and wed potentially be standing next to them when they can take another turn.
